Protecting habitats; encouraging wildlife

At Giles Landscapes POS, we encourage native species by building and protecting their natural habitats. This includes hedgerow management, wildflower planting, providing nesting boxes and working hard to limit the impact of construction and maintenance.

Most recently our team worked in collaboration with Cambridgeshire County Council to translocate and re-establish 400m2 of species-rich grass, in order to preserve the habitat for the local newt population whilst facilitating works for the Cambridge Water Company.

Environment

Sustainable open space management

Alongside building sustainable developments for people and wildlife, we use technology to help ensure any systems we are responsible for run efficiently.

Such an example is 4D Monitoring: a cloud-based equipment and environment monitoring solution that allows us to track the performance of key assets, such as street lighting and adoptable pumping stations.

Giles Landscapes POS and our contractors will then use the live performance data to identify where energy wastage is occurring and spot equipment faults before they become critical, so we can resolve problems with minimal disruption to tenants.
